Beachcombing, swimming & other watersports
There is a sheltered sandy beach in short walking distance from the house, which is also great for exploring the rock pools. Surfers find excellent conditions at Doughmore Beach, just a few minutes away. Doughmore is also great for sea kayaking, long beach walks and horse riding. The Atlantic coast of West Clare is renowned for the clear waters with an abundance of marine life, perfect for scuba diving. A scuba diving centre with excellent classes for beginners is located in Kilkee with needed equipment being provided.

Angling
The area has excellent sea and freshwater fishing opportunities. Whether from the coastal rocks, on the beach, the nearby lakes or in the many rivers - there's plenty of fish to be caught.
Walking, Cycling & Riding
The quiet country roads make the area perfect for walking and cycling. Doughmore beach is a favourite with riders. An equestrian centre is only 15 mins. away, catering for all abilities.

Wildlife
Migrating birds are a common sight in the neaby lake. Though dolphins can sometime be seen from the coast, a guided dolphin watching tour from Kilrush or Carrigaholt will be a more exciting adventure.
Golf
Renowned Greg Norman designed Doonbeg links Golf course, luxury Hotel and Spa is only a couple of minutes away. Other renowned Golf courses in the West Clare area include Kilrush, Kilkee, Spanish Point and Doonbeg, which are all less than half an hour from the house.

Sightseeing
Kilkee has a beautiful sheltered beach and is also starting point of the Loop Head Drive leading along spectacular cliff scenery to Loop Head Lighthouse. The market town of Kilrush has a popular marina where boat trips to Scattery Island as well as dolphin watching tours commence. The town of Miltown Malbay is 10 kms away and is famous for its traditional pubs and the annual Willie Clancy Summer School each July which attracts thousands of visitors who are passionate about traditional Irish music and dance. The famous Cliffs of Moher and its state of the art interpretive centre Atlantic Edge is only a 30 min. drive away. Doolin and the Burren are only a few minutes further apart. The Killimer Car Ferry makes it easy to visit all the sights of County Kerry on convenient day trips.
